A hiker is dwarfed by a massive old growth Douglas-fir in ‘Joe Goddard’s Grove’. The Joe Goddard nature interpretative trail (Trail No.3690) loops .5 miles through an exquisite old growth forest comprised of Douglas-fir, Red Cedar and Pacific Yew. Some of the largest of which are Doug-fir with trunk diameters up to 9.5 feet, and 250 feet tall. The age of these trees is amongst the oldest in Oregon and range between 450 and 700 years old. The quiet trickle of Black Creek flows along one side of the grove, and there is a moss covered picnic table that makes an excellent place to lunch or read a book.
