Kokanee Salmon (Oncorhynchus nerka), a landlocked form of Sockeye Salmon, at the moment of spawning. The white cloud of milt pooling beneath the fish is heavier than water, seeping down into the crevices of rock to fertilize the eggs safely buried there. The female is the one without spots. Deschutes National Forest, Central Oregon Cascades.
