After years of drought and potentially criminal mismanagement by federal agencies and Oregon’s DEQ, Lake Abert has gone completely dry, and possibly permanently. The environmental impact, and loss of habitat for brine shrimp, salt flies, and multitude of migrating birds which fed upon them is incalculable. It’s incredible to think that in state like Oregon, that the Department of Environmental Quality could have played a role in destroying this lake.
