Mica Cap – Coprinellus micaceus

From: $53.00

  • A cluster of Mica Cap mushrooms (Coprinellus micaceus) sprouts at the base of an Elm tree in autumn.  Of interest, several dozen mosquito were using their stylus to feed upon these Mica Cap.  While I’ve observed mosquito feeding upon flower nectar, I’ve never seen them doing so with fungus.  Champoeg State Park, Willamette Valley, Oregon.
