Based out of Charleston Oregon, the 127 tonne Crabber F/V Echo Belle heads north just off the first set of breakers. There is much to be proud about Oregon’s sustainable harvested Dungeness Crab Fishery, one of the few left in the United States which is managed solely by a state agency (Oregon Department of Fish & Wildlife). It has also received a Marine Stewardship Council certification for being sustainably harvested with neutral environmental impact, was the first major crab fishery in the world to achieve MSC certification, and is the only Dungeness crab fishery certified as sustainable on the West Coast. The Oregon Dungeness fishery has also been endorsed by: Monterrey Bay Aquarium (Seafood Watch Chart Best Choices), Environmental Defense: Which Fish is Best List, Natural Resource Defense Council, Audubon Guide to Seafood.
