One of the highlights of my autumn is photographing the aspen groves of Steens Mountain. This fall turned out to be one of those years where the leaves lost their green and quickly fell to the ground. But even so and all the more, I’d never seen the forest so beautiful. Paper white trunks softly aglow amidst an ocean of limbs rustled by cold wind. Winter settled into the forest early, and those last bands of color grew thinner from one day to the next. In three days hence it would begin to snow, learning to see when less is more. Jackman Park, Southeastern Oregon.
